No bulbs that I know of.

LCD's do have a brightness issue. While they DO last longer, you'll notice colors and overall brightness definitely takes a hit after time.

Also, it should be noted that while the threat of viewing headaches are near nil because the 30/60/whatever-pulsing Hz signal doesnt "flicker" on LCD's.. the image is still *laggy* compared to the competition. 10 milliseconds may not seem like much, but during an action movie or a fast pull/switch...there's still 'ghosting'. Nothing like technology pulling you out of your suspension-of-disbelief during a video game or flick, eh?

definetly ~lsd~ gives you the better reception

Am I the only one who caught that? Groove it.

DLPs look great, but some people see a rainboweffect in the screen. not everyone sees this, but for those who do, this puts these out of the question.

There's your answer! Look...no rainbow...perfection! Rainbow...don't waste your money!

Just got a 32 inch Samsung LCD yesterday and I'm loving it. Great picture, very easy to use and pretty sexy looking too.

I've started looking into tv's more since I'm getting close to being able to get one. The more I look into them the more confused I become! For instance what the fuck is color temperature?

Also I've started to look at the vizio brand of televisions. They seem to all have decent reviews. What brand is the complete shit brand of LCD's out there. I heard there is a brand that is just complete shit and will most likely break down within the first year. Anyone know which one that is?

Love my Samsung LCD had it for a few months now, been brilliant!

I don't believe that ppl would spend some much money for a tv! When they go down on price I would buy a plasma but by then something better would come out.

LCD have longer lifetime,Plasma can hold about 10000-15000 hours after that she is dead!

50,000 they say on an LCD for half brightness. My brightness is set to half now.

They are less then half of what they were 5 years ago. $1200 will buy an incredible LCD tv. Plasma is old. Certainly if you wait you will get a better price on a bigger TV, but HD is so nice at an affordable price now.

Sorry, I missed this post. The new generation of Vizio's are fantastic. I bought a 42" Gallevia, but there is a 46" and maybe bigger now.

Maybe I'll get a vizio after all. Probably wait till next tax time. By then I'll be able to get at least a 42 easily. The way prices are dropping I might be able to get a nice 50 inch! Sony or magnavox. I dunno! I want a damn LCD tv NOW!!! But I don't want ot settle for a lousy 32 inch. If I wait I can at least get a nice size. 42 would be nice 50 would be ideal and 60 + PERFECT! But that is to damn much money for me!

Sony Bravia was the best I saw in LCD, but at a premium price. I think the newer Vizio's come close and have fixed the menu issues on the older models. I don't know how big LCD screens have gotten in the past 6 months, although that is definately the replacement for plasma.

The more I think about it the more I want to just settle for a 32 inch. I know I won't be happy though. I really should wait till tax time and get a nice 50 inch maybe. I've seen them but they're like 2 grand! This is where the tax money comes in handy! Well next years anyway!

No, prices are dropping. A 46" LCD 6 months ago was about $1400. You really ought to check around a lot. Costco is a good bet, and they do coupons for members on already competive prices for an addition $200-$300 off.
